El Chapo's henchmen had a shootout with Mexican Marines - here's the video

LOS MOCHIS, MEXICO — A newly released helmet cam video shows the bloody shootout that resulted in the capture of Mexico's most wanted fugitive last Friday morning.

The footage shows Mexican Marines throwing grenades, blowing up doors, shooting through windows and engaging in gun battle with El Chapo's bodyguards at a house in Los Mochis, where Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman was hiding with his henchmen. Five of El Chapo's associates were killed in the raid, while six others were captured.

In the video, an injured Marine can be seen lying on the ground while his colleagues nearby throw grenades into a large living room area, where some of El Chapo's guards are hiding out. Two bodies are later seen lying in the room.

In one room, one of El Chapo's henchmen is taken alive before having his hands tied behind his back. In another room, the Marines find a man's body lying on a bed — the TV still on and probably playing the program he was watching before the raid. Two women were found hiding in one of the bathrooms.

During the raid, the Marines discovered that El Chapo had fled through a tunnel behind a mirror. However, the runaway drug lord was later apprehended at a nearby hotel. The entire operation, from the moment when the Marines raided El Chapo's hideout to the moment of his capture, took about three hours.

The video first aired on Mexican television channel Televisa.
