Pas pese dekadash rishfaqet sëmundja e malaries ne Vlorë. Zyrtarisht mësohet se muajin e fundit janë prekur tete persona, qe kane punuar ne Afrikë. Pasi janë paraqitur ne spitalin e Vlorës me simptoma te sëmundjes, pacientet janë dërguar për mjekim te specializuar ne Qendrën Spitalore Universitare "Nene Tereza". Por, ndonëse punëtorët e kane kaluar problemin shëndetësor, drejtues te shëndetit publik ne Vlorë japin alarmin se rishfaqja e sëmundjes ka shtuar rrezikun e përhapjes se saj nëpërmjet mushkonjave te shtuara ndjeshëm sidomos ne zonat, ku ujërat e zeza rrjedhin ne sipërfaqe. Specialistet e shëndetit publik te Vlorës kane kërkuar marrjen e masave urgjente për dezinfektim nga njësite vendore me te rrezikuara, qe sipas tyre janë disa zona ne Vlorë, Orikum dhe komunën qendër. Qe nga viti 1967 rasti I pare me malarie ne Shqipëri u rishfaq ne vitin 2009, dhe behej fjale për një shtetas britanik. Malaria është infeksion I shkaktuar nga parazitë njëqelizore dhe kalon ne gjak gjate pickimit te mushkonjës. Sëmundja sjell dëmtime te renda ne organizëm deri ne vdekje.
