ISTANBUL — Screeners at Istanbul's Ataturk airport have detained eight men suspected of having links to the Islamic State. On Tuesday, eight men who took a flight from Casablanca to Istanbul were detained by Turkish authorities at Istanbul Ataturk Airport. Turkey's Anadolu news agency reports that the men were separated into interview rooms and questioned by criminal profilers. The men said they were coming to Istanbul on vacation, and had hotel reservations. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the group had no hotel reservations in Istanbul. Screeners also recovered a drawing from one of the men apparently showing a planned route from Turkey to Germany and concluded the men were trying to enter Germany illegally. The drawing describes a route from Istanbul to the Turkish coast in Ismir to board a boat for Greece, then travel by bus and train through Serbia, Croatia, Hungary, Austria and Germany. Profilers tasked with preventing foreigners from entering Turkey to join ISIL have been posted at Istanbul's Ataturk and Sabiha Gokcen airports, as well as the bus terminal in Bayrampasa, the Hurriyet Daily News reports.
