Colombia: New Round of Peace Talks to Begin Tuesday

Expectations are high in Colombia as the 43rd round of peace talks is set to begin in Havana on Tuesday, November 3. This round comes on the heels of announcements by both government and FARC spokespersons about the strong possibility of achieving a bilateral ceasefire this December. The FARC has implemented five unilateral ceasefires that have brought violence down, but has long insisted that a sustainable ceasefire must be bilateral. Agreements on victim reparation were reached in September, and a technical commission is now working out verification and security mechanisms. Natalia Margarita reports from Bogota for teleSUR.
