Two Russian soldiers have been charged in Ukraine with terrorism offences after being captured by Ukrainian troops earlier in the week.

The pair who admitted working for the Russian military could face up to 15 years in prison.

After interviewing the soldiers at a military hospital in Kiev, Michael Bociurkiw, spokesperson for the OSCE special monitoring mission to Ukraine said:

“Both individuals claimed that they were members of a unit of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and that they were on a reconnaissance mission and that they had been to Ukraine on missions before.”

The Kremlin has once again denied its involvement in the war in eastern Ukraine and said they would take the necessary steps to get its two citizens freed.
