Florida police officer shot and run over after responding to 911 noise complaint in Tarpon Spring

A Florida police officer and father of six was shot while responding to a 911 nuisance call and died after the suspect ran him as he fled the scene early Sunday morning.
The suspect, 23-year-old Marco Antonio Parilla, was at an apartment complex on Grand Boulevard in Tarpon Spring, banging on multiple doors looking for a man he thought had ratted him out for a parole violation, while his female companion remained in the car, with loud music blaring.
A resident called 911 to complain about the noise after Parilla’s companion, 24-year-old Evelyn Santiago, refused to turn down the music.
Officer Charles Kondek, 45, arrived at the scene around 2 a.m. in response to the 911 call and immediately called for backup.
Parilla fired seven rounds with a .40 caliber handgun after officer Kondek exited his car. Kondek fired twice back but was hit once above his bullet proof vest.
Witnesses said the suspect then told Santiago to get out before turning the car in reverse and driving off, running over the officer in the process.
As Parilla headed north along Athens Street with the police chasing after him, he lost control of the car and crashed into a power pole and then a parked vehicle. He was apprehended after he attempted to flee on foot.
Parilla, who has an extensive criminal record and was wanted for a parole violation, has admitted to the crime and was arrested for first degree murder.
