El Salvador: FMLN registers gains in recent elections

Although official results are still not in for elections in El Salvador, preliminary figures indicate that 65% of the population will be governed by the ruling FMLN as compared to 45% before the elections. The party of the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front received a majority in the National Assembly and 262 victories in local contests for the office of Mayor, including in the nation's capital, San Salvador. teleSUR
