STORY: Myanmar's pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi formally registered her party on Friday (December 23) in the nation's capital for upcoming elections.
In still photos, Aung San Suu Kyi was seen leaving a hotel in Naypyitaw and later arriving at the election commission office to register her party, the National League for Democracy (NLD).
She fulfilled the registration with NLD leader Thin Oo and other party members.
Suu Kyi also met with upper house parliamentary speaker Khin Aung Myint and lower house parliamentary speaker Shwe Man.
The 66-year-old Nobel Peace Laureate has been blocked from politics and held in detention for long stretches since returning from overseas in 1988. She was freed by Myanmar's military leaders last year after it held the first elections in 20 years.
