A seldom mentioned and long forgotten bag of odds and ends that Neil Armstrong collected on the Apollo 11 mission has surfaced.

Armstrong’s wife, Carol, came upon the small white clutch filled with priceless objects while digging through a home closet shortly after the astronaut’s 2012 passing.

Multiple items inside included a tether identified as the one used by Armstrong as he rested before their moon departure, a camera, clips and some netting.

The bag itself may also contain traces of moon dust on it.

How is it that a collection of such importance went missing for 46 years?

Well, for starters, the pouch was supposed to be left on the moon with other no longer needed equipment such as overshoes and life support apparatus, so no one was necessarily looking for it.

Why this one ended up back on Earth is unclear, but transporting it wasn’t a secret.
