Officers were dispatched to the scene following reports of a suspicious package that was seen on a sidewalk. Upon arrival, they cordoned off a portion of the road and opened the suitcase, which was reportedly surrounded by garbage.
Inside they found a dismembered body that was in such poor shape, officers weren't initially sure if the remains belonged to a person or an animal. Additional body parts were located in the vicinity.
Detectives along with the medical examiner remained at the location for hours to investigate. At this time, the victim's sex, age and race are undetermined.
