Sun drops topless page three girls and shunts nudity online - at a price

After 44 years of literally titillating its readers with bare-breasted women on page three, British daily tabloid The Sun is dropping the semi-naked poses, in the paper at least.

Online The Sun keeps up, even goes further into nakedness, and the suspicion is it is abandoning the hard copy cuties to push more readers onto pay-as-you-view online goodies.

“There’s usually page after page of men fully clothed doing things, and running the country, achieving in sports, you know, it’s all about what they’re doing and with women its about what they look like,” said No More Page 3 campaigner Yas Necati.

Not all women disliked the feature, especially those who saw it as a springboard to a modelling career.

“I think it sends out a message to women that women can do as they wish, if they choose to, as long as they’re not directly harming anybody or doing anything against the law. If you want to celebrate your sexuality you can do that, if you don’t want to then you don’t have to do that,
