NewsX: Tamil Nadu Government shunts an IAS Officer

The transfer of the IAS officer in Tamil Nadu, has once again brought into focus, how honest officers are forced to be at the mercy of their political bosses.
After two years in Tuticorin, Ashish Kumar has now been posted as Deputy Secretary, Social Welfare Department. Sources say the mining group, which had fallen on Kumar's radar had illegally mined over 2,30,000 metric tonnes of minerals from a beach.
Local fishermen had earlier complained to the district administration that violations by the private mining group had eroded the sea shore. They had welcomed the collector's action, but are disappointed by his transfer.
