It was only announced a week ago, but already there is controversy over Afghanistan’s proposed new government lineup.

It has been revealed the man nominated as agriculture minister is wanted in Estonia over accusations of tax evasion.

Mohammed Yaqub Haidari is being sought by Interpol.

The office of the Afghan President says it was unaware that Haidari had any previous legal problems and would investigate.

The minister confirms he is on the list but maintains he is innocent and the victim of a political conspiracy.

President Ashraf Ghani has the daunting task of trying to heal political wounds in Afghanistan and steer the country away from years of conflict.

Parliament is yet to approve his proposed cabinet.
