Cameron chairs emergency meeting after hostage killed

...after a video released by Islamic State appeared to show the beheading of British hostage David Haines.

British Prime Minister David Cameron calls the aid worker "a British hero", and says the UK and its allies must "destroy" IS.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) BRITISH PRIME MINISTER, DAVID CAMERON, SAYING:

"They are killing and slaughtering thousands of people, Muslims, Christians, minorities across Iraq and Syria. They boast of their brutality, they claim to do this in the name of Islam. That is nonsense, Islam is a religion of peace, they are not Muslims they are monsters."

This is the Croatian village where Haines lived.

The 44-year-old father of two from Scotland was kidnapped in Syria last year.

His executioner had a British accent and appears to be the same man featured in videos of the murder of two American journalists.
