In one recent and troubling report, the Denver Sheriff’s Department released a prisoner by mistake. No one is quite sure how the error happened, but authorities are investigating who it was that demanded 18-year-old Sebastian Littlejohn be let go.

The suspect, who is considered to be a dangerous criminal, was arrested for ‘aggravated robbery and kidnapping’. Although Littlejohn was taken back into police custody the day after being released and just few hours after the mistake was brought to light, law enforcement officials are concerned and want to know how such a crucial mishap could occur in the first place.

The Sheriff’s Department reportedly received a court order to release the inmate but the following day authorities received completely different information that Littlejohn was not to be released from prison.

Sheriff Gary Wilson commented “Our initial investigation reveals that we followed the court order, policies and procedures. I’m concerned and I want the public to know that. There’s more work to be done to understand what happened.”

Wilson also pointed his department is working with the court system to find out what went wrong. It remains unknown if the release document was forged or filled out by mistake.
