Karl Slym, managing director of Tata Motors, died after falling from a hotel room in Thailand on Sunday (January 26).

Slym had attended a board meeting in Bangkok and was staying with his wife in a room on the 22nd floor of the Shangri-La hotel.

According to Thai media outlet RYT9, Slym's body was found on the fourth floor by hotel staff at around 7:45 a.m. He was wearing a white coat with a pink t-shirt and black shorts.

Initial investigations suggest that Slym's death was likely a suicide. According to a Reuters report, police found an open window in his room that was too small for Slym to have accidentally slipped out of. A three-page note written in English was also found in the room. An autopsy on Slym's body is expected to begin on January 27.

Slym was hired in 2012 to revive Tata's flagging sales and market share in India.
