A woman in Elizabethtown, Kentucky has been accused of attempting to sell her newborn child, not once, but twice. The reason why 24-year-old Leeanna Brown wanted to sell the infant was because she needed money for court costs and other legal fees for a previous case involving a first-degree possession of a controlled substance felony charge.

Brown reportedly asked her cousin to pay her court costs and legal fees, after she had offered the child to an unidentified individual for $5,000. She only went to her relative when the deal with the first person fell through.

The cousin told investigators she adopted the infant on November 27th of this year, but right after that, Brown wanted to take the baby back because she wanted to transfer guardianship to someone else. Directly following an investigation, Brown was charged with selling or purchasing a child for adoption.

Brown has two other young children, who were being cared for by other families. Since the case was brought to light, child protective services stepped in and placed all three children in the same foster home.

Police have not wrapped up their investigation and claimed Brown may be facing future, additional charges.
