Nebraska Jail to Offer Cells as Hotel Rooms

The new Lancaster County Corrections Facility in Lincoln, Nebraska will allow law-abiding citizens to pay to become a voluntary inmate when it begins renting out cells for a single night this week.
For $30 a night, the prison will open up hundreds of beds to people who wish to experience a day in the life of a prisoner: having their mugshot taken, receiving a prison jumpsuit and a tour of the facilities.
With all proceeds going to the nonprofit Child Advocacy Center, paid-up voluntary inmates will have to be in their cells at 10:00 pm for lockdown with lights out occurring one hour later.
After a cozy night spent on one of the prison's genuine 4-inch thick mattresses, inmates will be woken up bright and early at 6:00 am for breakfast and promptly sent on their way.
Prison officials said that the event has raised over $600 thus far and that they will donate a check in one month's time.
