Malaysian man found shot four times in his car by motorcycle-riding assailants

Shootings in Malaysia have jumped to the level of nearly one a day since July 26, according to data compiled by police. In the latest incident, A 29-year-old man was found shot four times in his Hyundai Atos by two men on a motorcycle.
The victim was driving in his Hyundai Atos with two passengers presumed to be family members on Wednesday night in Taman Klebang Putra in Chemor. Two men wearing darkened helmets that obscured their faces drove up to the car and fired at least six shots at close range.
The victim was hit four times. He was hospitalized with injuries that police Assistant Commissioner Sum Chang Keong said were not critical, though he was not yet able to give a statement. The two passengers were not hurt. Police found six slugs on the road near the scene of the attack.
According to Malaymailonline, the recent increase in shootings in Malaysia is linked to the abolition of the Emergency Ordinance in 2011, which saw more than 2,600 criminals released from detention, many who, according to Malaymailonline, have since returned to crime.
