At least 40 people have been killed in Mexico as two major storm systems converged from the Pacific and the Gulf.

Tens of thousands of people have been evacuated from their homes after lashing rain and strong winds caused flooding and landslides.

Houses have been buried and roads transformed into raging rivers.
