Diary of a Nudist is an American 1961 nudist film produced and directed by Doris Wishman.

Newspaper editor Arthur Sherwood is on trip when he accidentally stumbles upon a nudist camp in the woods. He is very much shocked by this and decides to send reporter Stacy Taylor to the camp so she can write an expose on the camp and have it shut down. However, much to her surprise, Stacy finds that she enjoys the nudist lifestyle and writes some very positive articles on her experiences, which doesn't sit well with Arthur. Arthur then decides to join the camp himself to complete the project, only to decide for himself that nudism is happy and wholesome.

00:00:00There are many good reasons for the nudist philosophy.
00:00:16We believe that sunshine and fresh air must definitely result in both physical and mental benefit.
00:00:23Sunshine and fresh air are natural phenomenon,
00:00:25and ours is a way of life which pursues these forces in the most natural and unencumbered manner possible.
00:00:32We strive for a healthy mind in a healthy body.
00:00:36We feel that nudism eliminates tension, brings forth complete relaxation,
00:00:41which enables man to find his true values.
00:00:44This is our creed and our goal, a true way of life.
00:00:55Read the story on page one, about the lovers of the sun.
00:01:06Read the story in the news, about the sun lovers blues.
00:01:13I've got the sun lovers blues, and I can't seem to lose them no how.
00:01:18I've got the sun lovers' woes from my head to my toes,
00:01:24and I can't seem to lose them no how.
00:01:29My fortune's not like the changing tide,
00:01:35cause sorrow's always walking by my side.
00:01:41I've got the sun lovers' woes from my head to my shoes,
00:01:55and I can't seem to lose them no how.
00:02:00Nobody cares if I live or die.
00:02:05No one to care if I laugh or cry.
00:02:12No one to hold me when the sun goes down.
00:02:18No one to take me out and pay the town.
00:02:25I've got the sun lovers' woes from my head to my toes,
00:02:40and I can't seem to lose them no how.
00:02:47Read the story on page one, about the lovers of the sun.
00:02:54Read the story in the news, about the sun lovers' blues.
00:03:02I've got the sun lovers' blues, and I can't seem to lose them no how.
00:03:10Hmm, 3.30.
00:03:35I told Frank to meet me at the club at 4.
00:03:39I don't understand it.
00:03:40I've hunted this area many times before this, and I've never gotten lost.
00:03:49If I can just find that brook, I'll know exactly where I am.
00:03:54Maybe it's beyond those trees.
00:03:55Maybe it's beyond that.
00:04:09Nothing.
00:04:12Maybe it isn't.
00:04:14We'll watch this.
00:04:44I can't believe my eyes.
00:05:14A nudist can.
00:05:44This is outrageous, and I'm going to do something about it.
00:06:14Good morning, how was your hunting trip?
00:06:38Fine, fine, but never mind that now.
00:06:42I'll tell you about it later.
00:06:44Shall I get those contracts you were asking about yesterday?
00:06:47No, not now.
00:06:48I have something much more interesting to discuss with you.
00:06:50It's really something.
00:06:51Oh?
00:06:52My little hunting trip has turned up something very interesting.
00:06:58Very interesting indeed.
00:07:00And we're going to do a series that will blow the lid right off it.
00:07:03For goodness sakes, Arthur, what are you talking about?
00:07:06While I was in the woods, I took a wrong turn, you see.
00:07:09I was trying to find my way out, and I stumbled upon something.
00:07:12You won't guess in a million years what it is.
00:07:14I won't even try.
00:07:15I won't even try.
00:07:16Stacy, not 60 miles from where we are standing now, there's a nudist camp.
00:07:21Oh, you think it's funny?
00:07:22A nudist camp?
00:07:23Not more than two hours from where we are right now.
00:07:28Just what have you got in mind?
00:07:29I want real inside information.
00:07:30I want a reporter to spend a few weeks in that camp, seeing what goes on.
00:07:32And I want the articles to come directly from the camp.
00:07:35Stacy, I want documented proof of everything we print.
00:07:37This is big Stacy, really big.
00:07:38That sounds like a good idea.
00:07:39Who do you think will do it?
00:07:40You.
00:07:41Me?
00:07:42Oh, no, you don't.
00:07:43You must be out of your mind.
00:07:44You expect me to join one of those camps?
00:07:45Become a nudist?
00:07:46Oh, no.
00:07:47I couldn't.
00:07:48I wouldn't.
00:07:49I wouldn't.
00:07:50As a matter of fact, I'm going to go out and see what goes on.
00:07:51I want the articles to come directly from the camp.
00:07:53Stacy, I want documented proof of everything we print.
00:07:55This is big Stacy, really big.
00:07:56That sounds like a good idea.
00:07:58Who do you think will do it?
00:07:59You.
00:08:00Me?
00:08:01Oh, no, you don't.
00:08:03You must be out of your mind.
00:08:04You expect me to join one of those camps?
00:08:07Become a nudist?
00:08:08Oh, no.
00:08:09As a matter of fact, I won't.
00:08:11Now, Stacy, calm down. Just take it easy, will you?
00:08:13You said yourself it's a good idea.
00:08:16Well, it's more than a good idea. It's a great idea.
00:08:18And it needs a good reporter, Stacy.
00:08:21You've got other good reporters.
00:08:23Let somebody else do it.
00:08:25How about Frank? He's always done a good job on exposés.
00:08:29This is not just an exposé. It's a lot bigger than that.
00:08:33Stacy, it needs you.
00:08:34You're the best reporter I've got, male or female.
00:08:37And one other thing, Stacy. First and foremost, you're a reporter.
00:08:43You owe it to your readers as well as to yourself and me.
00:08:46You've got to report the news for them, interpret the news for them.
00:08:50You've got to be a crusader.
00:08:51I can't, Arthur. Please, give it to somebody else.
00:08:55I won't give it to someone else.
00:08:57Come on, Stacy, don't turn away a chance like this.
00:09:01Well, give me some time to think about it.
00:09:04At a girl, I knew I could count on you.
00:09:07I said I'd think about it.
00:09:08I haven't committed myself to anything yet.
00:09:12I'm betting on you.
00:09:14Has it ever occurred to you that sometimes I'd like to be thought of as a woman
00:09:17and not always as a reporter?
00:09:19Miss Owens, will you take a letter to the Sunny Palms Lodge for Miss Stacy Taylor?
00:09:38Gentlemen, I would like to obtain information concerning my becoming a member of your organization.
00:09:44I would appreciate it if you would send me literature and also application forms.
00:09:56Arthur certainly didn't waste any time contacting the lodge.
00:10:00I doubt if he'd be in such a hurry if he was the one who was going there.
00:10:03What was it the letter said about a personal interview?
00:10:09In line with our new member policy, we wish at this time to conduct a personal interview with you at your convenience.
00:10:17We have found this system to be quite satisfactory in helping to make our final decisions
00:10:22regarding admission of an individual for membership.
00:10:25Kindly call me at Granite 1-3544, and I will be pleased to set up an interview with you.
00:10:31Very truly yours, Zelda...
00:10:33Very truly yours, Zelda Supli.
00:10:37Well, this is very interesting.
00:10:46I wonder what this Zelda Supli has in mind.
00:10:49Let's find out.
00:10:51Why don't you call her right now?
00:10:54Don't you think I should prepare myself with some answers first?
00:10:57No.
00:10:57You're just going to set up an interview.
00:10:59Be careful of what you say.
00:11:00It'd be unfortunate if she discovered you're a reporter, wouldn't it?
00:11:03It would?
00:11:04Of course it would.
00:11:06You don't think she'd admit you for membership if she knew you were a reporter, do you?
00:11:09I hadn't given it much thought.
00:11:12There was nothing on the application asking what type of work I'd do.
00:11:17But I suppose if she knew I were a reporter, I wouldn't be admitted for membership.
00:11:23However, I don't think it would be so unfortunate at that.
00:11:26Oh, come on now, Stacy, don't start falling apart on me.
00:11:30We're within inches of success.
00:11:32Hello?
00:11:37Miss Supli, please.
00:11:54This is she.
00:11:54Oh, hello.
00:11:56This is Stacy Taylor.
00:11:57I recently made application for membership in the Sunny Palms Lodge.
00:12:02And this morning, I received a letter from you asking me to call you to arrange an interview.
00:12:07I also received a map showing me how to get to the camp.
00:12:10Will 3.30 tomorrow be convenient for you?
00:12:133.30 tomorrow will be fine.
00:12:15I'll see you tomorrow then.
00:12:16Goodbye.
00:12:17Goodbye.
00:12:18That's my girl.
00:12:21We're really going to put this thing across.
00:12:48I forgot the combination.
00:12:51It's 4, 5, 9, 9, 8.
00:12:58Thanks.
00:13:18Bye-bye.
00:13:28Bye-bye.
00:13:46Bye-bye.
00:14:17Let's hurry. I can't wait to get into that pool.
00:14:47Let's hurry.
00:15:17Let's hurry.
00:15:47Let's hurry.
00:16:17Let's hurry.
00:16:47Let's hurry.
00:17:17Let's hurry.
00:17:47I'm Stacy Taylor.
00:17:53I have an appointment with the camp director.
00:17:55Yes, we've been expecting you.
00:17:58There's a combination locked on the gate.
00:18:00The combination is 45998.
00:18:03Drive down to the parking lot.
00:18:13Drive down to the parking lot.
00:18:17The camp director's office is the first cottage on the hill.
00:18:20The camp director's office is the first cottage on the hill.
00:18:47Come on in.
00:18:55Come on in.
00:18:57Come on in.
00:19:08Stacy, I'm so glad to meet you.
00:19:16I'm Zelda Supli.
00:19:18I'm Zelda Supli.
00:19:19Won't you sit down?
00:19:20I hope you didn't have trouble finding us.
00:19:24No.
00:19:25No.
00:19:25No.
00:19:25I'm rather familiar with the area.
00:19:27But it was so warm driving down here, I couldn't help wishing I had an air conditioner in the car.
00:19:33We've solved that problem rather easily without air conditioners.
00:19:37I hope you'll excuse my frankness, but it's obvious that this is all new to you.
00:19:43You've never been a member of a neuter's camp before, have you?
00:19:46Well, I...
00:19:48Well, as a matter of fact, no, I haven't.
00:19:52I thought not.
00:19:53There's really no reason to be so nervous.
00:19:56I have no intention of giving you a third degree of any kind.
00:20:00We merely like to ask our prospective members a few questions so that we can get to know them better.
00:20:05We're selective about those whom we admit for membership.
00:20:09That's quite understandable.
00:20:10Now, are you sure you want to become a member?
00:20:13Yes, quite sure.
00:20:14I've wanted to for some time.
00:20:17Why do you want to become a member?
00:20:21Well, I love the sun.
00:20:23It makes me feel healthy and alive.
00:20:24I always felt it would be fun to spend my vacations and weekends just relaxing in the sun.
00:20:29It is fun.
00:20:30I always planned to join such a group as this, but somehow never did, until now.
00:20:36Also, I want to get to know and to be friends with the members.
00:20:39I feel they must have a very healthy philosophy.
00:20:42I see.
00:20:44Well, that seems to tell me what I want to know.
00:20:47Of course, it is necessary that we do a certain amount of investigation before we can accept you.
00:20:53Of course.
00:20:54Thanks for coming.
00:20:56You'll hear from me in a few days.
00:20:57Goodbye.
00:20:58I hope to see you soon.
00:20:59Goodbye.
00:21:00I hope to see you soon.
00:21:28Bye.
00:21:29Bye.
00:23:00Can I talk to Arthur Sherwood, please?
00:23:03Hello, Arthur?
00:23:05I just received a letter from Zelda Supli.
00:23:08I've been accepted as a member of the lodge and can go out there and stay whenever I like.
00:23:13Wonderful.
00:23:14You may as well get started immediately.
00:23:17Check in or whatever you have to do right away.
00:23:21Arthur, I'm not sure that...
00:23:22Come on, Stacy, you can't back down now.
00:23:26The hardest part is over.
00:23:28You think the hardest part was making out that application?
00:23:32I know how you feel, Stacy, but believe me, you'll do it and you'll do a fine job.
00:23:36I hope so.
00:23:37Well, I'll have my breakfast and go.
00:23:40Now, don't forget, I want day-by-day reports mailed directly from the camp.
00:23:43Yes, yes, I know.
00:23:45I'm depending on you.
00:23:46Goodbye.
00:23:46Goodbye.
00:23:47Goodbye.
00:24:00Well, that's bad.
00:24:03There's no turning back now.
00:24:05How long are you planning to stay?
00:24:14I have two weeks vacation and I'd like very much to spend them here.
00:24:17Good.
00:24:18Well, if you've finished your coffee, I'll show you to your cabin.
00:24:20Hello?
00:24:36Oh, yes, just a minute.
00:24:37Stacy, I've got to take care of this call.
00:24:39Your cottage is the next one to this on your left.
00:24:42You see it?
00:24:46Yes, I see it.
00:24:47It looks very nice.
00:24:48Why don't you go to your cottage, unpack and get comfortable.
00:24:53I'll call for you in about 10 minutes and show you around the camp.
00:24:56Can you manage your bags?
00:24:58Yes, I can.
00:25:18Good.
00:25:35Yes, I can.
00:28:06There are some of our members. I'm sure you'll enjoy meeting them. They're all lovely people. Now let me show you around the camp.

00:31:22Once you go out on top of them, I see you.
00:31:24We have to begin to get us happy.
00:31:26Well, you're lucky.
00:31:30It's going to fall for us when we eat thực procure.
00:31:33So you have nice swimming pool.
00:31:34Always see you, Jason.

00:34:58Hello.
00:34:59Stacy's new.
00:35:00Oh, really?
00:35:01She's spending her vacation here.
00:35:03Oh, how very nice.
00:35:05I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay.
00:35:06I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay.
00:35:07Come on, Stacy.
00:35:08Let's go for a swim.
00:35:16I don't know, Frank.
00:35:17I think it's a little strong.
00:35:19You know how I feel about sensationalism.
00:35:24You know how I feel about sensationalism.
00:35:28This is not sensationalism.
00:35:30It's exploitation.
00:35:31Let's not play with words, Frank.
00:35:35What's the difference?
00:35:38Chief, it's fine to be a crusader, but we've got to sell papers, too.
00:35:41Well, sell papers.
00:35:43But not at the cost of our integrity.
00:35:47Well, in any event, we can't do anything until we hear from Stacy.
00:36:17But, come on over and join us.
00:36:28Would you like some coffee?
00:36:30Would you like some coffee?
00:37:00Good morning, Doug.
00:37:26Good morning, Russell.
00:40:04Jacey, telegram for me.
00:40:08I wonder who it's from.
00:40:09Don't be upset.
00:40:14I'm sure it's not bad news, my dear.
00:40:16Do you want me to send a reply?
00:40:37No, thank you.
00:40:39No, thank you.
00:40:39No, thank you.
00:40:47No, thank you.
00:42:21Frank, come in here a minute.
00:42:39Yeah, what can I do for you?
00:42:41We received the first of Stacy's articles, and they're going to be just fine.
00:42:45Listen to this.
00:42:46I feel that the public needs to be made aware of the real purpose of nudism.
00:42:52And anything this reporter tells you may be taken as gospel.
00:42:55Because for almost a week, I've been staying at a nudist camp as a nudist.
00:43:00Wow, that's Stacy, all right.
00:43:02What else does she have to say?
00:43:04The rest isn't awfully important.
00:43:05It's just background.
00:43:07There's more to come tomorrow, though.
00:43:09I knew we could depend on her.
00:43:11She's a darn good reporter.
00:43:13Let's go.
00:43:17What's up?
00:43:19What's up?
00:43:20What's up?
00:43:20How's it going?
00:43:29Oh, my God.
00:43:59Oh, my God.
00:44:29Oh, my God.
00:44:59Oh, my God.
00:45:01Oh, my God.
00:45:03Oh, my God.
00:45:05This is especially so when not interfered with by layers of clothing.
00:45:10And each member of this club proudly sports a deep and healthy glowing suntan.
00:45:16Why, it almost sounds as though she's on their side.
00:45:18That's the feeling I get.
00:45:23Well, if I know Stacy, she's got something up her sleeve.
00:45:26She's probably about to swing some journalistic twist.
00:45:28You'll see.
00:45:29I hope you're right.
00:45:31Anyway, I sure wish she'd hurry up and get to it.
00:45:34Get it composed and hold it.
00:45:36I hope you're right.
00:45:38I hope you're right.
00:45:46Frank put a stop to those Stacy Taylor articles.
00:46:14Miss Owens, get me Stacy Taylor on the phone. You know where she is.
00:46:26Yes?
00:46:27I have Stacy Taylor on the line.
00:46:29Good. Let me speak to her.
00:46:32Stacy, what is this all about? What are you trying to do to me?
00:46:37Yes, I got your last article.
00:46:41Will you tell me what this is supposed to mean?
00:46:44After one week of nudism, I, Stacy Taylor, girl reporter, am now Stacy Taylor, girl sold on nudism.
00:46:55You bet your sweet life I don't understand. When can I see you?
00:47:02I'll see you tomorrow morning at 10 in my office then.
00:47:07Mm-hmm. Right. Goodbye.
00:47:12Good?
00:47:14Good.
00:47:15Good.
00:47:17What's keeping her?
00:47:45Good morning.
00:47:47Well, it's about time.
00:47:49Well, you did say ten o'clock, didn't you?
00:47:52So, now what's this all about?
00:47:54What is this, a third degree?
00:47:57No, Stacy, it's not a third degree.
00:47:59I sent you to do an expose, and you're doing a selling job.
00:48:04Well, maybe that's the way it sounds to you, but I don't think there is much selling necessary.
00:48:09You don't have to sell honesty, you know.
00:48:12Now, what do you mean, honesty?
00:48:14Arthur, one of the things you have always demanded of your reporters, myself included, has been integrity.
00:48:20I've seen you fire a reporter for dressing up a story to the point where you felt it lacked integrity and honesty.
00:48:27You've drummed it into us over and over again.
00:48:31How many times have I heard you say, report the news, but report it with truth?
00:48:37That's one of your famous slogans, isn't it?
00:48:40That's right, but what's that got to do with this?
00:48:43Well, that's exactly what I'm doing.
00:48:45You sent me to do an expose, but I find nothing to expose.
00:48:48This lodge is part of a fine group, and from what I've heard, all of the other camps like it are, too.
00:48:54I've got nothing to say against it, but I've got plenty to say for it, and I intend to say it.
00:48:59Not in my paper, you won't.
00:49:00Stacy, I don't know what's happened, but I can't use a reporter who loses sight of what she sets out to do.
00:49:05Does that mean I'm fired?
00:49:07Not if you assure me that you will do this story the way we discussed it.
00:49:14I'm sorry, Arthur. I can't do that.
00:49:17I've got to do this story truthfully and accurately, or not at all.
00:49:22Then you'll not do it at all.
00:49:24Then I am fired.
00:49:25Yes, then you are fired.
00:49:30All right.
00:49:32If you don't believe that the articles are true,
00:49:34why don't you go to the lodge and write the articles yourself?
00:49:37Well, I'll be right back.
00:51:07Miss Owens, take a letter to the Sunny Palms Lodge.
00:51:17Gentlemen, I am interested in becoming a member of your organization.
00:51:21Hello there.
00:51:26What are you doing here?
00:51:30Why, I'm a new member.
00:51:32You should treat me in a more friendly manner.
00:51:34Didn't you yourself tell me how friendly everyone here is?
00:51:37Well, with all the contemptible...
00:51:39Take it easy, Stacy.
00:51:40I believe this was your idea.
00:51:42Remember, you suggested that I come out here and write these articles myself.
00:51:47But I didn't mean...
00:51:48Oh, there you are.
00:51:50I see you two I've already met.
00:51:53Well, yes.
00:51:54As a matter of fact, I feel as though we were old friends.
00:51:56Really?
00:51:57That's nice.
00:52:00Come along, Arthur, and I'll introduce you to the rest of the group.
00:52:04See you later, Stacy.
00:52:05See you later, Stacy.
00:52:07See you later, Stacy.
00:52:10See you later, Stacy.
00:52:40See you later, Stacy.
00:53:10See you later, Stacy.
00:53:40See you later, Stacy.
00:54:10Let's play it well.
00:54:23Come on.
00:54:29Arthur, why did you choose this particular camp
00:54:39to write the articles from?
00:54:41It's sensible.
00:54:42We already have the background in this camp
00:54:44from your articles.
00:54:45That's it.
00:54:46I feel as though I'm contributing to the crime
00:54:48you're about to commit.
00:54:51Crime? What crime?
00:54:53I'm only going to tell the truth.
00:54:55The truth as you see it, perhaps.
00:54:57But you have so many preconceived notions,
00:54:59I doubt if you'd recognize the truth.
00:55:02All I ask is that you give us a fair chance.
00:55:04I've always tried to be fair.
00:55:06You know that.
00:55:07I hope you haven't changed.
00:55:10Just don't feed the public ready-made opinions.
00:55:23Aye.
00:55:24Aye.
00:55:24Aye.
00:55:24Aye.
00:55:26Aye.
00:55:27Aye.
00:55:27Aye.
00:58:27Having closely associated with nudists, I have found that...
00:58:41What's the matter with me?
00:58:47I just can't seem to write anything.
00:58:49I guess I haven't really given myself enough of a chance to look around.
00:58:52Maybe tomorrow we'll be in here.
00:59:04I just can't seem to be in here.
00:59:17I just can't seem to be in here.
00:59:30I just can't seem to be in here.
00:59:44I just can't seem to be in here.
00:59:57Hi, Stacy.
01:00:13How about going for a swim?
01:00:15No, thank you.
01:00:17I just can't seem to be in here.
01:00:33She's great.
01:00:34She's great.
01:00:34What's her name?
01:00:41That's Helen.
01:00:42She's our champion swimmer.
01:00:44Stacy.
01:00:46Wait.
01:00:46I want to talk to you.
01:00:47I want to talk to you.
01:00:48Daisy.
01:00:49Daisy.
01:00:50Daisy.
01:00:51I want to talk to you.
01:01:51Oh, I need cigarettes.
01:02:21Oh, I need cigarettes.
01:02:51The true facts about nudism.
01:02:57Oh, no!
01:03:01Oh, I thank you.
01:04:03Will there be a pickup today?
01:04:19Yes, there's a pickup every afternoon at 5 o'clock.
01:04:21Is it important?
01:04:23Yes, very.
01:04:24I'd like to speak to you.
01:04:45You'd like to speak to me.
01:04:47You have nothing to say that would interest me.
01:04:50Stacy, please listen.
01:04:52We have nothing further to speak about.
01:04:55Obviously, nothing I've said has made any difference to you.
01:04:59Please listen to me.
01:05:01For just a minute.
01:05:03Listen to you about what?
01:05:05About honesty?
01:05:07About integrity?
01:05:08You don't know about any of these things.
01:05:12What kind of a man are you, Arthur?
01:05:14You know what I think?
01:05:16I think you're a downright hypocrite.
01:05:21Stacy, you don't understand.
01:05:23Why don't you go back where you belong?
01:05:25Why don't you go back where you belong?
01:05:53There you go.
01:05:54Oh, we don't understand.
01:05:55I don't understand.
01:05:56Call a baby.
01:05:57Now I walk right.
01:05:57I don't understand.
01:05:58Yeah.
01:05:58I don't understand.
01:05:59I don't understand.
01:06:01It's fine.
01:06:02It's fine.
01:06:03Bye-bye.
01:06:03My other day and then.
01:06:05Hey.
01:06:06I talk to you.
01:06:07Bye-bye.
01:06:07I go down.
01:06:08I get in-bye.
01:06:09I get in-bye.
01:06:10I get in-bye.
01:06:11Bye-bye.
01:06:12Bye-bye.
01:06:12Bye-bye.
01:06:13Bye-bye.
01:06:17Wait.
01:06:18Bye-bye.
01:10:37It's all right.
01:10:39I've acted stupidly.
01:10:42I could have saved a lot of time if I just listened to you.
01:10:44There's something else I want to tell you.
01:10:47I'm in love with you.
01:10:49I've been in love with you for a long time,
01:10:51probably from the first day I saw you.
01:10:54I guess I didn't realize it.
01:10:57You do love me, don't you, Stacy?
01:11:00As if you didn't know it.
01:11:18You do love me, don't you.
