Blinky is probably the character recommended for the most experience player because his special is just a flamethrower that shoots at short distance. This is a Konami game, so definitely his power is a reference to like how Fang's Weapon C flamethrower works in Contra: Hard Corps. It deals a lot of damage but it is at point blank range. I had the most difficulty completing Blinky with no death and no bombs because of his special ability among the 4 playable characters.
