The death toll from a new strain of bird flu in China is believed to be at least 6. Authorities in Shanghai have been slaughtering birds at a poultry market in the city after the H7N9 virus was detected from samples of pigeons. 14 people have been reported as having been infected by the strain, all in Eastern China.
