Bird flu deaths in China

The death toll from a new strain of bird flu in China has risen to six. Authorities in Shanghai slaughtered birds at a poultry market in the city after the H7N9 virus was detected from samples of pigeons. 14 people in total have been reported as having been infected by the strain, all in Eastern China.
