A French soldier killed in Mali has been posthumously awarded the Legion of Honour, France's top military medal at the Invalides war memorial in Paris. He was part of a regiment that came under fire on Tuesday morning.
France is to begin a withdrawal of around 4000 troops from Mali in March, despite a recent rebel attack on the key town of Gao.
