At just 29 years of age, Joseph has established himself as one the world's leading Oud Performers and Composers. A virtuoso of amazing diversity and sensitivity, he continues
to appear in concert halls worldwide dazzling audiences with his brilliant technique, his passionate musicianship and his joyous style of performance.
He has recorded 10 albums to date: Storyteller, Rouhani, Visions, Epiphany, Angel, The Prophet: Music Inspired by the Poetry of Kahlil Gibran, The Hour of Separation, Band
of Brothers and Concerto of The Greater Sea which won an ARIA Award for Best World Music album in 2012.
A resident of Australia since 1986, Joseph has been responsible for expanding the Oud's notoriety in mainstream western culture and has also been recognized in the Arab world, earning a spot on the judging panel of the Damascus International Oud competition in 2009 and also taking part in Istanbul's first Oud festival in 2010.
Joseph has toured extensively headlining in Europe, America, Asia and the Middle East and has performed with diverse artists such as Roy Ayers, John Abercrombie, John Patitucci, Jack DeJohnette, Bela Fleck, Zakir Hussain, Joey DeFrancesco, Richard Bona, Camerata Salzburg, Sultan Khan, Richard Tognetti and The Australian Chamber
Orchestra, Ivry Gitlis, Christian Lindberg, Neil Finn and Katie Noonan, amongst many others. In 2011 he was listed as number 20 on the Sydney Morning Herald's annual most Influential people list and was the youngest recipient of the Freedman Fellowship for Classical Music. He has received 9 ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Awards) nominations and won 5 Limelight Awards.
