Activists succumbs to injuries later

A 37 year old social activist from Kolkata succumbed to injuries after he set himself on fire on December 3. Amirul Islam reportedly took this step after police refused to take a rape complaint against a local man who allegedly raped a minor girl in November. Amirul's family is now demanding justice and action against the police officers who were pressuring Amirul. Even the Opposition tearing into Mamata Banerjee questions police inaction in the case, West Bengal Congress President Pradip Bhattacharya will meet victim's family today (January 4).
