Syrian refugees face harsh winter in Jordan

Dark clouds overhead.
An ominous reminder that while it is cold now, this is just the start of winter.
Here at the Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan the UN World Food Programme (WFP) is looking after 30,000 Syrian refugees.
And there are 300 new arrivals every day.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) WORLD FOOD PROGRAMME SPOKESPERSON, LAURE CHADRAOUI, SAYING:
"The temperature drops here as low as minus two or minus three sometimes, especially at night and WFP is providing food to these refugees, to every family here in this camp. They can get a nutritious meal every day and it helps them fend off the cold."
The conflict in Syria has pushed up food prices in neighbouring Jordan.
Now there are fewer imports coming from Syria and more mouths to feed as Syrian refugees flee the fighting at home.
With no sign of a peace deal any time soon it looks to be a long hard winter in the camp.
