Typhoon survivors helped across river in the Philippines

Locals who found themselves trapped by mudslides were given a hand crossing this river. Rescue teams used cable lines to help these resident of Compostela Valley make their way across. While most did get wet, they say they are grateful to have made it over.

Typhoon Bopha's fierce winds demolished houses, leveled entire banana plantations in the southern Philippines. Officials say the death toll from the typhoon has risen to 379 people.

Nearly 350,000 people in the region have been forced from their homes and Rescue teams say they are fanning out to more remote villages as they continue to look for survivors.
