Bo Xilai Linked to Chongqing's Sacked "Sex-Tape" Official

Another Chongqing official sacked. This time, over a leaked sex tape—and the case has implicated Chongqing's disgraced leader Bo Xilai, who's now facing investigations of his own.
Zhu Ruifeng, who runs this anti-corruption website, released the five-year-old footage online last week. He said Lei Zhengfu's sexual indiscretions were exploited by a building company back in 2007. The company director trained a young woman to have affairs with Lei and record their escapades. The firm then used the tapes as leverage to get government contract jobs that Lei's younger brother was in charge of.
But Zhu says Lei relied on his ties with Bo Xilai to escape prosecution, and was instead promoted to be the Party Chief of Beibei district. The now disgraced Bo was formerly in charge of Chongqing.

"For a district Party Secretary to be promoted, the city's Party Committee will need to have input. Bo Xilai would've okayed [Lei's] promotion, it's certain he was an ally of Bo Xilai."
Zhu says Bo and his former police chief, Wang Lijun, both protected Lei. Wang, currently serving a 15 year sentence for covering up Bo's wife's murder of a British national, sent the director of the building firm and the woman in the tape to jail.

"I think Wang used this method, where officials have indiscretions that may be reported online, and he would use these scandals to procure the loyalty of these officials."
According to Zhu, Chongqing authorities knew about Lei's case for years and gave him the sex tape on November 4th. He also has more tapes implicating other officials.
The expose of Bo's former ally comes as Chongqing's newest Party Chief Sun Zhengcai took office this month. Chinese leaders have also spoken strongly against corruption—using Bo Xilai's case as a warning to other officials.
He has not been formally charged, but state-run media says Bo is being investigated for massive corruption, abuse of power, and also maintaining inappropriate sexual relations with several women.
