Evil acts of spilling blood on the basis of sectarian differences must be stopped: Altaf Hussain said incessant killings in the city are aimed at igniting sectarian strife

The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has deplored the brutal killings of students and other people belonging to the Shia and Sunni schools of thought in Karachi. He said that these incidents were aimed at igniting the fire of sectarian strife in the city. He asked Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebad to call Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah and convene of a meeting of the heads of law-enforcing agencies. He said that action should be taken to protect the life and property of the public on urgent basis.
Mr Hussain said that murder of anyone, whether he is a Shia or a Sunni, is the murder of the entire humanity, hence the despicable act of spilling blood of innocent citizens on the basis of sectarian differences must end. He said that the wrath of Almighty Allah should not be invoked by slaughtering innocent people without any reason. He further said that the elements involved in killing innocent people must seek forgiveness from Allah on their abhorrent deeds.
Mr Hussain made a passionate appeal to the religious scholars belonging to both the Shia and the Sunni schools of thoughts, to ask their followers and students to remain peaceful. He said that the religious scholars should preach about sectarian harmony and work together for ensuring peace and accord in their respective areas.
Mr Hussain also appealed to the people to make committees in their areas consisting of Shia and Sunni for ensuring sectarian harmony. He said that the people should protect each other.
Mr Hussain expressed his deep sense of grief and sorrow on the killings of people in different parts of the city. He sympathized with the grieving families and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
