Two American men who were jailed in Iran on charges of spying have been released after nearly 26 months in prison.

Shane Bauer and Josh Fattal were freed on Wednesday from Tehran's Evin prison, and were believed to be on their way to the Gulf nation of Oman.

The two men had denied the spying charges.
