Although it sounds like something you may see in a spy hollywood movie, a man in Hannover, German recently died from an attack that involved getting stabbed by an umbrella which was said to be ladened with poison.

According to the Local, German, the attack happened about an year ago, following which the victim fell into a coma. Over time, he came out of the coma and his condition had gotten better but the German man passed away abruptly this past Wednesday. The suspect was described as being covered with a bandage on his face.

Authorities are still trying to put the pieces together and looking for the assailant.

This particular case is similar to the one in 1978 when Georgi Markov was poisoned at the height of cold war.

He was a Bulgarian dissident and a commentator for Radio Free Europe and BBC. In 1978, while walking in a London street, he was hit by a ricin pellet fired from an umbrella.

The effects of the poison were slow - he even went to work right after the incident, but his condition gradually worsened and he died after few days.
