The Syrian army's crackdown on opposition to President Bashar al-Assad's rule appears to be intensifying.

There has been more fighting in the city of Homs.

Activists say dozens of women and children have been killed by pro-government militia in a massacre. The government blames what it calls "terrorist groups".
