PRODUCED BY JOHN HOUGH & JOANNE COLLINS

Daniel Scannell is a Surfer/Musician from Rathcormac in Co. Cork. In 2004 Daniel moved to Co. Mayo where he became immersed in the Ireland's surf culture and was introduced to the music of artists such as Jack Johnson, Ben Harper and Xavier Rudd. Inspired by the sounds of Mayo's surf scene Daniel began playing the Didgeridoo and was soon collaborating with the band 'The Sons of Gingerbread' a blues/folk group who combined ethnic instrumentals with an oldschool blues setlist creating a new and unusual sound.

In 2007 Daniel moved to the sunny South East living and working in Waterford City. Disconnected from the music scene there he began busking and jamming at open sessions to raise his profile in the area and soon enough was working with several local Artists and bands collaborating with Jazz, Blues, Rock and Roll and theatre groups, his unique style of music quickly becoming popular in venues across Waterford. Strongly influenced by the Jazz and Blues scene there Daniel's guitar playing was developing all the while and eventually his love for the guitar had given the didgeridoo a temporary back seat, an important turning point in his musical journey which allowed Daniel to write his own music as a solo artist and become the Singer/Songwriter he is today.

In 2011 Daniel independently released his debut EP 'Fish for Shooting Stars' which is available on iTunes, he is currently recording his debut album a collaboration with Jimmy Hoey which is set for release summer 2012 under the Seaweedjam label. Daniel's Seaweedjam Tour will also take place this summer along Ireland's wesht coast, dates will be announced in April.
