These troops are part of the Free Army set up by Syrian rebels to fight the regime of President Bashar al-Assad.
They put on a show of bravado for the cameras but quickly retreat after being fired at by government forces with superior weaponry.
The Free Army's military commander says a NATO imposed no-fly zone would help turn the tide.
(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) FREE ARMY CAPTAIN AND FORMER MEMBER OF SYRIAN ARMY, ABU MUJAIDIN, SAYING:
"We are, God willing, demanding a buffer zone, if we got this it would give us aerial cover. With aerial cover we will be able to liberate our country, God willing."

Some are defectors from the Syrian army, this man shows his ID to prove it.
The United Nations has said more than 5,000 people have been killed in Syria since anti-Assad protests broke out in March.
