As Geneva II talks resume, Syrian rebels express little hope

On the shores of Lake Geneva, a peaceful environment once again plays host to talks aimed at ending the horrific violence in Syria.
For a second day, opposition and government delegates arrived at the United Nations.
There, UN mediator Lakhdar Brahimi appeared worn out.
(SOUNDBITE) (English/Arabic) LAKHDAR BRAHIMI, U.N. SPECIAL ENVOY TO SYRIA, SAYING:
"The beginning of this week is as laborious as it was the first week. We are not making much progress."
Back in Syria, the outlook is even worse.
At an Islamic Front checkpoint in the Idlib province, rebel forces manning the area have little hope.
(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) ISLAMIC FRONT REBEL, OMAR SHAHOUD, SAYING:
"With regards to Geneva, whether the first round, the second round, or the fifth round, all of this is propaganda. Nothing more. They claim they want to evacuate the besieged areas in Homs, but all they did was release 75 families."
Even civilian volunteers express despair.
