This clip tells the story of Lui River found in Mongu district, one of four Zambian districts along western Zambia's borders where Christian Aid partner the Zambia Anglican Council (ZAC) is responding to malaria with funding from Christian Aid, the JC Flowers Foundation and others. Lui River's seven communities have seen an incredible transformation, including a dramatic reduction in malaria cases and related deaths, thanks to the efforts of ZAC's 100 trained Malaria Control Agents (MCAs); community volunteers who work tirelessly to help local people protect themselves from malaria in remote communities who are missed out by other malaria response initiatives in the country. As part of a coordinated national effort in Zambia, this ambitious Cross Border Malaria Initiative aims to help eliminate malaria in targeted areas and, using church networks across the borders in neighbouring countries such as Angola and Namibia, help establish a coordinated response to ensure that malaria is controlled on both sides of the border.
