Murray trial starts, Sheen settles lawsuit

All eyes are on a courtroom in Los Angeles as opening arguments got underway for Dr. Conrad Murray's manslaughter trial. Much of the Jackson clan was on hand in the courtroom including Katherine, Joe, Janet, La Toya and Tito. Lawyers for both sides talked to the jury about the circumstances around Michael Jackson's death, including showing pictures of the King of Pop on a hospital gurney and an audio recording from Jackson a month before he died.
The studio that fired former "Two and a Half Men" star Charlie Sheen said Monday (September 26) it has struck a deal with the actor to end their legal dispute. Warner Bros. Television released a statement saying that Sheen's lawsuit against the studio and series executive producer Chuck Lorre has been settled "to the parties' satisfaction." The statement said settlement terms of the $100 million (USD) lawsuit filed by Sheen were confidential.
Organizers for the Latin Grammys, the top honors for Latin music, have named Colombian superstar Shakira as their person of the year to be honored at the group's annual awards show in November. Shakira, who was nominated for three Latin Grammys this year including album of the year, will be given the award not only for her music but for her philanthropic work as well.
