Police used water cannon to disperse students demonstrating in Santiago on Monday, part of ongoing protests to push the government for a range of educational reforms.
The students - largely supported by teachers and professors - want improved educational standards, lower university fees, free education as well as a host of other reforms.
Hundreds of students had marched to a municipal building in the city.
The scene has been almost a weekly occurrence for months in Santiago.
Since the popular student movement began months ago, it has ballooned and seen massive rallies with tens of thousands of students facing off against riot police in the capital and other main cities.
For some of the protests, students have been joined by thousands of activists and the working class, who feel too many Chileans are being left out of a copper price boom that has spurred the economy.
