U.S. diplomat Joseph Yun met with the leader of the outlawed National League for Democracy Aung San Suu Kyi in Rangoon Friday. They held talks in an attempt to find common ground between the U.S. and Burma.

U.S. diplomat Joseph Yun met with Burmese democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi on Thursday at her lakeside residence in Rangoon.

In his meetings with Suu Kyi, Yun says he has better insight to help the U.S. government's engagement policy with Burma's authorities.

[Joseph Yun, U.S. Diplomat]:
"We are trying to find a common ground between Washington and Nay Pyi Taw, of what we can do. And you know that we have a policy of engagement. So, I hope my visit has helped. Certainly I will take back what I've learned from Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and Nay Pyi Taw."

[Aung San Suu Kyi, Burmese Democracy Leader]:
"I believe in engagement because we can find common ground by engaging even with those who we do not agree with."

Joseph Yun is scheduled to have talks with leaders of major political parties and businessmen before he leaves Burma on Saturday.
