Gordon Brown answers Tweets at People's PMQs

Gordon Brown has answered questions from members of the public at a special People's Prime Minister's Questions.

Scores of Twitter users took part in the event, which was organised by the Labour Party, while other submitted their questions by email.

Gordon Brown answered some of the queries during a special live webcast.

Many of those who took part wanted more information about the Government's Digital Economy Bill - controversial because of proposals to cut off the internet accounts of people found to be illegally sharing files.

All the party leaders have been keen to engage social networkers in the run up to the vote on May 6.

The interest follows the success with which President Obama used both Facebook and Twitter when he was running for the White House in 2008.
