What are you doing to save water in the drought in Sheffield?
Transcript
00:00Every time in the morning when we get up, we've got a bowl in the bathroom, we put it under the tap and run it till it gets hot, that gets emptied, if we shower then again we've got that bowl and we fill that with water till it warms up and we have two big pop bottles on the side of the sink and when we wash it up, again we fill them up till the water gets hot.
00:30That gets empty, just everything we can.
00:34So is that waste water for the garden?
00:37Yes, the garden, and there'll be some water for rinsing pots that we keep in pop bottles, but yeah that's what we do.
00:45And how would you feel if the hosepipe ban and restrictions lasted until 2026?
00:52I think it should be a real problem, yeah.
00:55Why?
00:56We need water don't we?
00:58And that's it, and if we haven't got any, I mean this is where it's been I think 76 was, so I'm sure there were standpipes then.
01:06It's going to be terrible, you know if it's, you're talking about being dried through October, we get that, just imagine you're going to be in a state when you haven't got any water.
01:18Do you remember standpipes?
01:20Yeah, yeah.
01:21Was it fun?
01:2276?
01:23Not really, you know, you put them up and you have to queue for your water.
01:27Yeah, they're going to be in a real state, I really are, yeah.
01:31Not using hosepipes, watering with a watering can and leaving the plants a couple of days before I water them.
01:37Not flushing the toilet, unless I've been properly, and not running any taps, and just generally trying to save water.
01:46Hopefully we'll get some snow and plenty of water, or perhaps short water, plug all the holes that they've got.
01:55And there are so many million gallons a day don't they?
01:59So that would help.
02:01Okay.
