00:00Hola, gracias por estar en M2 con
00:08nosotras, Ivette Salgado, ¿cómo
00:09estás? Hola, Susi, muy bien,
00:10muchas gracias. Qué bueno, oye,
00:12¿tú alguna vez jugaste el
00:13videojuego Twisted Metal? Yo no.
00:16No tuve la oportunidad, pero sé
00:17que es un videojuego súper
00:18popular, que mis amiguitos
00:20jugaban en por ahí de los
00:22noventa. Ok. Y me encanta lo
00:25que está ocurriendo ahora
00:26porque tenemos muy buenas
00:28experiencias de videojuegos
00:29pasando la pantalla grande. La
00:31verdad es que muchas veces uno
00:32se sorprende de la cantidad, uno
00:34que no es gamer, porque sabemos
00:35que los gamers nos van a decir
00:37ay, ajá. Pero la manera en la
00:39que hay forma de crear historias
00:41con lo que en un videojuego
00:43parecería solo subir de nivel es
00:45increíble. Exactamente. Y este
00:46es un mundo que podríamos
00:48comparar entre Mad Max y una
00:51feria tenebrosa de Guillermo del
00:52Toro con payasos, digas. Vaya,
00:55tiene muchísimos factores, la
00:57primera temporada ya existe,
00:59entonces llega la segunda temporada
01:00protagonizada nuevamente por
01:03Anthony Mackie, mejor conocido como
01:05Capitán América. Capitán América. Y
01:07tuvimos la oportunidad de hablar con
01:08él, con el showrunner, respecto a esta
01:10segunda temporada, donde el personaje
01:13que se llama John Doe, o sea, sería como
01:15un Juan Pérez. Exactamente. John Doe.
01:17Que también la semana pasada hablábamos
01:20de que hace un par de semanas de
01:21entregar paquetes extraños. Aquí
01:23también. Esta es su chamba y eso es
01:25lo que tiene que lograr. Ya en la
01:27primera temporada pasaron
01:28muchísimas cosas y en esta
01:30segunda, pues sí, como platicamos
01:31con ellos. Estén cuidado con lo que deseas.
01:33No hay idea, ¿qué es eso?
01:34No hay idea, John.
01:35Even the people trying to bring
01:36the law back are dangerous.
01:38This is our land. These are our roads.
01:41And they're going to have to go
01:41through Vegas.
01:43You both know who rules Vegas, John.
01:46Hi, everybody.
01:50We can take them.
01:52Nah.
01:53This is going to be fun.
01:56Do you think humor would be like a
01:58necessary thing to survive post
02:00apocalypse or is it something you
02:02could possibly do without?
02:04I think you would definitely need
02:06humor. The post
02:08apocalyptic world looks so
02:10bare and
02:11scary. If you're not laughing
02:14it would be a hard time to be
02:16there. So I always say when the
02:17apocalypse comes, whatever it is,
02:19if it's a meteor, if it's like a
02:22raging group of robots, I want
02:25them to take me out first. Like I
02:27don't want to live like in in the
02:31middle of nothing nowhere trying to
02:33survive. That don't look fun.
02:35Yeah, it does not look fun, but
02:36sort of makes it look fun.
02:38I mean, at least he's having fun
02:39within this crazy, scary
02:42world. So how do you think he does
02:44it?
02:44Well, you know, John Doe kind of has
02:46the day-to-day life of a
02:48of a kid. Like he has a certain
02:51immaturity about him that shines in
02:54the way of him not taking things too
02:56personal or too serious. Every
02:58obstacle he's faced with, he's
03:00looking for a way out of it as
03:02opposed to acknowledging the
03:03obstacle. So with that comes a
03:05certain amount of fun, comes a
03:06certain amount of lightheartedness.
03:08One of my best friends, I modeled
03:10John Doe after him. This dude is the
03:13quintessential dude who's been
03:15whenever he's given one lemon, he
03:18comes back with a jug of lemonade.
03:21That's so cool. And also about the
03:24second season, I was watching and I
03:26was wondering, be careful what you
03:28wish for. Could that be a good way to
03:30describe sort of what they're going
03:32for now that they're getting a wish
03:33if they make it?
03:34Quite, quite possibly. I would say
03:37be careful, be careful with wishing
03:40for a wish. I think the big thing with
03:43this season, no one is appreciating
03:45or taking advantage of what's in
03:48front of them. Everybody hears this
03:50opportunity to change everything and
03:52they instantly go towards it. So I'm a
03:54person who lives in the now and the
03:56present and the right here. So I would
03:59say be careful wishing for a wish
04:01instead of just appreciating right now.
04:03In this case, the second season, I
04:05know you guys go up and beyond. I
04:07just spoke to Michael, your showrunner,
04:09and I know it's going. I mean, I've
04:10seen a couple of the characters. So
04:14what's new? What can you tell people
04:17without it being a spoiler? So they'll
04:19come back and say, wow, I was not
04:21expecting that.
04:22Well, I'll say this. This season is
04:25really unique because we have so many
04:27new characters, and I think it gives
04:30the audience the feeling that they get
04:32from the video game. When watching this
04:34season, you get to pick the character
04:36that you want to root for to win the
04:38tournament. You get to follow their
04:39journey. We give you their backstory so
04:42you have an emotional connection to
04:43them, and you get to watch their arc
04:46throughout the course of the show. I
04:48don't think there's ever been a series
04:50like that where you have so many new
04:52introductions to characters and so many
04:54unique characters that you get to, you
04:57know, kind of, you know, see yourself in
05:00those characters and go on to go on the
05:02ride with them.
05:03I did wonder, though, when you're
05:05deciding to do this and how you're going
05:07to do it, I know the video game has its
05:09own lore, but there's comedy, there's
05:12action, but it's also quite scary in an
05:14apocalyptic plus clown way, right?
05:17So how do you balance those three
05:19things? I mean, ultimately, the show's
05:22all about having fun. I think that's the
05:24North Star, right? We want you to be to
05:26have a big, goofy smile on your face. And I
05:28think that even during the scary moments, we
05:31always undercut it with comedy. I think
05:33it's really fun to balance those moments and
05:35make sure that, you know, that there are
05:37these moments of harrow. It's always about
05:39character for me. It's always about what is
05:41happening to these characters. What's the
05:43story about? What do they need to go
05:44through? And I think it's always just about
05:46like, what is the most fun thing to
05:48happen? Is it fun for the character to go
05:49through a harrowing moment? And then what
05:51is the thing that they learn from that
05:53moment? So it's just, it's a really fun
05:55show and I always love surprising the
05:56audience.
05:58Ahí lo tenemos. A Chedo Maxx,
06:00estaremos más que pendientes.
06:03Oye, Yvette, hablando de series que han
06:05sido muy esperadas y también está, me
06:07encanta. También creo que hay un poco de
06:08preocupación por el amor que hay al título
06:11original. Eso justamente yo te iba a
06:13preguntar. Tú que ya tuviste la oportunidad
06:14de ver lo que representa Alien Earth. Sé
06:17que esto es una especie de precuela que
06:18está antes de los hechos de la película
06:20del 79, cuando nos enamoramos a través de
06:23lo que vimos en pantalla con Ridley Scott.
06:26Tienen la vara muy alta. ¿Qué están
06:28haciendo? Tuve la oportunidad, tuve la
06:29oportunidad hace más de un año de ir a
06:31Tailandia, gracias a ellos, a ver qué
06:33estaban haciendo, a ver cómo los
06:36xenomorfos actuaban con esta versión de
06:40los hechos donde además las
06:42corporaciones por primera vez nos las
06:44plantean como pues las que están manejando
06:46todo, todo en el universo, ya no son
06:48gobiernos, ni siquiera son oligarcas, son
06:50las corporaciones como entes y hay
06:52humanos que también son cyborgs, pero
06:54que tienen un poco de los dos y es un
06:56grupo de niños jóvenes que además hacen
06:59referencias a los niños perdidos de
07:01Peter Pan. Ok. Y pues tienen que
07:03enfrentarse a esta cosa que nadie sabe
07:05qué es del todo cuando aparecen en
07:07Alien, pero pues tienen que ver cómo
07:10sobrevive la humanidad y también tienen
07:11que definir qué es la humanidad. Exactamente.
07:14Entonces está bien que haya tantos
07:15capítulos para definirlo, definitivamente
07:17cumple con el sabor y el terror de
07:20Alien y por eso platicamos entre otras
07:24personas con su director, Noah Hawley.
07:26Esto ya fue cuando la serie estaba
07:28terminada porque la primera vez que
07:29hablamos con él pues estaban todavía
07:31grabando, filmando y no era fácil que nos
07:34soltara detalles, pero ahora sí, así que
07:36adelante, Noah, adelante equipo, gracias.
07:42This ship
07:44Collected specimens
07:48Five new life forms
07:51from distant planets
07:53Monsters
07:57We don't lock them down
08:03It will be too late
08:08Honestly, I don't think anybody has any idea of
08:25the magnitude of what this production is unless
08:28they've seen it. So I would like to start off by
08:32asking both of you, how would you explain that and
08:34how much of that do you want people to know or
08:36just forget about the whole production thing and
08:39see what you're going to see on the screen?
08:41No, I mean scale
08:43Certainly the production itself had a huge scale
08:47But I think there's a scale of ambition in the
08:50storytelling as well
08:52You know, which is yes, we want to tell this big
08:55story about the spaceship crash and these
08:57creatures who come to earth, but we're also
08:59wrestling with big big issues that are that are
09:01vital to people
09:03today about you know, how our children are growing
09:06up in this world that's driven by technology and
09:09and increasingly by the whim of a very few wealthy
09:12individuals
09:13and so
09:15you know, I think that we offer this massive
09:18entertainment
09:19But whenever you do that whenever you scale up a story
09:22you also have to scale it down intimately with the characters
09:26and the relationships
09:28so that it's because otherwise you're just watching
09:30spaceships fly around and you don't feel any emotional
09:33involvement
09:34And I think there is there is something you sense in
09:36watching something on screen
09:38that is actually of a construct and not of an entirely sort of
09:43virtual creation and certainly it means a lot for the cast and the crew who are
09:49who are literally experience that in a way that has
09:53some real primal immediacy to it and so I think it is it is something
09:59that even in a subtle way really adds to the experience
10:04Absolutely and we got to see everything and everything is really right there
10:08I mean there might might
10:10Are there any other effects because I what I saw it was everything was there
10:15Yeah, you know, we we replaced some things with with visual effects we are we augmented
10:21some things we had a crash site that you know, I didn't have a spaceship
10:27on hand, but
10:29You know, it's all meant to feel very visceral for an audience, you know
10:35It's not meant to be, you know clean and and and perfect, you know
10:40So much of the alien franchise is about the the shadows the rust the dripping the that feeling
10:48There's nothing romantic about about the future in an alien movie
10:53I believe that when you started doing this, I mean we already knew about what was going to happen in the world with AI and corporations maybe but
11:01In this year and a half since I got to see you guys on the set things have gone way way more out of hand
11:08I think it's going to resonate more with the story
11:11I think so. I mean, you know, I wrote these scripts
11:14But before there was a a commercial AI interface like chat GPT that we could interact with and then when we went into production in
11:24In 2023, I think we just had the first iteration
11:28Uh, you know of that technology and so yes in the last two years
11:33It's been this you know this race
11:37In which every month it feels like the technology is getting better and better, you know
11:42And and all of it faster than we can really process and and put safeguards in place for
11:48You know, I I have kids in school
11:51You know, I got to work double time to make sure that that they're actually doing their homework, you know
11:55But yeah, that was point and and as you mentioned
12:00Clearly
12:01Society has gotten comfortable with the notion of having a relationship with something other than a human
12:06And from reports as as you're as you're mentioning
12:10The fact that that kind of existence may be implanted into a robot entity is
12:17Is probably going to happen if we get to continue this series over the course of few years
12:22Uh that the shows on the air which I don't think any of us would imagine
12:26Or noah would have even considered as possible when he started writing this yeah
