00:00Because the Falcons are one of four teams that play on Friday,
00:03we're going to get more news and notes from those four teams
00:06and the other teams that don't have to play until the weekend
00:08on Saturday, Sunday, and into Monday.
00:10So I just want to be clear on that.
00:12I don't want to crush Raheem Morris right out of the gate
00:14without saying that that's the case.
00:16But now that I have, why in the world would their rookie quarterback
00:20not play at all in the preseason?
00:22Like zero?
00:23Like this is the one team that I thought would play him,
00:26hold out Kirk Cousins because you don't want to get that guy hurt
00:28because you want to trade him at some point.
00:30The only, Joe, am I thinking of this correctly?
00:33That they may have some trades lined up here for Cousins
00:35and they just don't want to shake the tree at all
00:37because they don't know who their backup is going to be?
00:39It's the only thing that I can think of here
00:40that they secretly have deals that we don't know about.
00:43I would tend to agree.
00:45That's probably the scenario there.
00:46And I would want Michael Penix, who I think has some upside
00:49potentially as your late second or even better,
00:53your third quarterback in a super flex league.
00:55But yeah, to me, especially with a shortened preseason,
00:58I don't understand not getting guys reps.
01:00Now, look, a lot of these teams do these joint practices, right?
01:02They're doing like one of these joint ones with the Titans
01:05and they're running things.
01:06So like I understand that the preparation that I think we are all used to
01:10where the preseason games are eventually where you get the guys out there
01:13and get the reps.
01:13I don't know if the NFL coaches and the NFL organizations look at it the way
01:18we used to look at it or the way we're accustomed to looking at it.
01:20I think the landscape has changed so much over the last couple of years.
01:24You know, you used to have those four preseason games
01:25and the track was very simple.
01:27And the first game, nobody really plays.
01:30Second game, the starters play a series or two.
01:32Then usually they play a whole half in the third.
01:34And then the fourth game, you don't see anybody.
01:35It's a ghost down because everyone's just trying to get to the regular season.
01:39Now with less time, there's less opportunity for reps.
01:41And I think sometimes it's unfortunate because I think when you look
01:44at the early September football, it can be a little sloppy.
01:47And I think it's because we don't have the two-a-days anymore.
01:49We don't have the things that we're used to seeing.
01:51We don't have as much repetition time for these guys.
01:53Now look, there's the OTAs.
01:55There's the other things that have been working on the offenses.
01:56But, you know, that in-game action I think is very different than anything else.
01:59So I'm with you.
02:00I think it's a little suspect, a little strange.
02:02It would not shock me if Cousins was somebody that a team wanted to go after
02:07because I don't think he's completely done necessarily.
02:10You could help certain teams in the NFL, I think, right now.
02:13But I do think for fantasy value, I think it is a little concerning
02:16that Penix isn't taking any reps.
02:18Again, it's not a big deal.
02:19It's only a super flex kind of issue.
02:21But it does make you just slightly hesitant and going,
02:24okay, well, you know, how's that relationship with Drake London going to be
02:27and Kyle Pitts going to be and, you know, Bijan's going to be Bijan.
02:29But I think you're right.
02:30I think there's probably a little bit more behind-the-scenes action going on here
02:33than we realize.
02:34Thank you, guys.
