00:00A six-day occupation of the town hall square in Paris ended on Tuesday, leaving behind
00:06placards that read, give us decent housing. And hundreds of migrants, many with young
00:11children, were either corralled onto buses or left wondering where to go next.
00:16There's no solution. I don't know what to do. Once everyone leaves this place, I don't
00:23know if we'll end up sleeping at the Utopia Centre again, spending our days there at the
00:27day centre. That's what life is like for us. Last week, migrants charity Utopia 56 gathered
00:35a large group of unhoused migrants to camp in front of the city hall and demand accommodation.
00:41Many of them had been struggling for some time. My partner has his papers. He found a permanent
00:47job, but we don't have anywhere to live. We called the emergency services number, but they've
00:52only housed us one night since the 30th of June.
00:56On Tuesday though, police vans arrived to evacuate the square and coaches rolled up to take the
01:02migrants to other cities across France to stay in temporary accommodation centres. But
01:08for many, it's a non-solution.
01:10I work here in Paris. I can't leave my job. I cannot quit a permanent contract just for
01:15three days of accommodation somewhere else. If it doesn't work out, it's temporary. I will
01:19lose everything at the same time.
01:21Some are choosing between having a job and having a home, and others between having a
01:25home and keeping their family together, in cases where one parent has a job in Paris.
01:31The hot summer months are a dangerous time to sleep rough, with many food distribution and
01:35hygiene services closed due to holidays. And high temperatures, sometimes in the upper 30s
01:42in France, compound already harsh living conditions.
01:45The hot summer months are smaller.
01:47The hot summer months are almostalleInc kantor and keeping their bodies warm.
01:48It's dangerous to know the flow.
01:49But we have to go outside, the hot summer months, and the hot summer months.
01:51The hot summer months are still lonely.
01:52But we are on Tuesday for 8.
01:54Oh, it's not about because of the hot summer months.
01:55And the hot summer months are still looking for for men, which is maybe the hot summer months.
01:58That means not only in theublang
