00:00Uncovering the secrets of Taiwan's semiconductor power, this group of young foreign students
00:07have come to Taiwan to learn more about their chosen industry, straight from the source.
00:12I think it's a pretty unique experience to gain some knowledge on the semiconductor industry,
00:18and being Taiwanese, I think it's pretty important to have that knowledge,
00:22because semiconductor is such a huge part in the Taiwanese economy.
00:30Helped by Shenzhou's National Yangming Jiao Tong University and U.S. chip designer Synopsis,
00:35this four-day summer camp is meant to spark an interest in young overseas semiconductor talent.
00:40It comes at a time when Taiwan, facing a rapidly declining birth rate,
00:44is looking to bolster its leading industry with some help from foreign students.
00:48There's an urgent need.
00:51It's a very important need to be able to do the research that we need to do the research that we need to do.
00:58This is the first year the semiconductor camp was held in English,
01:13and it attracted students from eight countries, including the U.S. and Singapore.
01:18Taiwan is hoping these foreign students can help keep the country at the top of the industry
01:22and maintain its key role in the supply chain.
01:25Because there are too many electric companies, they want to expand.
01:29Whether it's in Taiwan or from abroad, they want to fall in Taiwan.
01:33They want to fall in Taiwan.
01:34They need to be a very urgent need for these people, and they need to be a very urgent need for it.
01:40For the students themselves, the camp was also a chance to learn about Taiwan
01:44and imagine a future where they could be a part of its semiconductor industry.
01:48I feel like this camp taught me a lot of things.
01:51It brought me into really knowing the industry, including this lab.
01:57I think it led me through a lot of innovative techniques that Taiwan developed
02:04during the whole process of semiconductors.
02:08As job opportunities in the semiconductor sector rise,
02:11Taiwan will continue looking for new talent at home and abroad.
