00:00I hope when people see Texas live that they go, they really love what they do.
00:06You know, the thing is, it's like, it's easy to be miserable.
00:10I remember the first time standing on stage at Dundee University in the bar,
00:15literally hanging on to my guitar for grim death thinking,
00:17oh my God, please don't make eye contact with me, please don't.
00:21And it's, you know, it's a skill that you learn.
00:26It's a skill that you learn, you learn to like, you've been so lucky to have opened up for so many great artists in the past,
00:34whether it's Paul McCartney, John Mellencamp, Robert Plant, Brian Adams,
00:39all these guys that play big, big, big stadiums.
00:42And you suddenly go from playing like a bar, you're on a stadium stage,
00:46you realise that there's so much distance between you and the audience that you need to do things.
00:50And then you see them doing things.
00:52I mean, for me, the greatest was John Mellencamp.
00:53I learnt so much of John Mellencamp.
00:56We toured America with him years ago.
00:59And he dragged me on stage every night to sing with him.
01:03And just watching the way that he worked his band and worked the audience,
01:09it was like, wow, it was real showmanship.
01:12And I was like, wow, that's a separate skill.
01:15That's something else that comes into it.
01:17And that is what we're there for.
01:19We're there to entertain.
01:20You know, we're not there to stand there and stare at our shoes.
01:24You know, fuck off home if that's like what you're going to do.
01:26I'm a bit like, it's really important to...
01:30For me, it's about having everything.
01:34And if you can learn those skills and work on those skills,
01:40you know, you've got to make the great records.
01:42You've got to write the great songs.
01:43You've got to do the great show.
01:45You've got to do the interviews and do them well.
01:47And not sit with your face, tripping you or being like,
01:50oh, I don't want to be here.
01:51If you don't want to be here, don't be here.
01:53Do you know what I mean?
01:53Don't do it.
01:54But don't sit there like a miserable fuck.
01:56You know, it's one of those ones.
01:57Yeah.
