Sea lions jump into the sea to escape earthquake in Russia's Kuril islands

Participants of a sea tour along Russia's Kuril islands filmed Steller sea lions running away from an 8.8 magnitude earthquake as it happened on Wednesday.  The video showing sea lions jumping en masse into the sea from to escape falling rocks and swimming away from the coast was captured near the Antsiferov Island in the Sea of Okhotsk by one of the tourists attending the tour.

00:00It was a very strong rock.

00:04We first didn't know what happened.

00:06It was just like a pile of grass.

00:12It started to see the surface of the ocean.

00:15The ocean was the sky.

00:17And in a minute, a second or a second,

00:19we realized that it was a disaster.

00:21Because they started to jump in the water.

00:23It started to be an avral,

00:24I don't know how to call it,

00:25they started to be scared.

00:27And it started to be scary.

00:29We knew we were not scared

00:31because we knew that we were not afraid.

00:33And the crew, the crew who were standing on the ship,
