Foreign military attaches observe Cambodia-Thailand ceasefire at border
Foreign military attaches from major powers and Asean member countries, along with diplomats from 13 countries including the United States and China, observed on Wednesday, July 30, a ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia that came into effect two days earlier.
The attaches inspected damage at the closed An Ses border checkpoint in Cambodia’s Preah Vihear province, which borders Thailand’s Ubon Ratchathani.
The foreign observers were briefed by Cambodian General Chan Sopheaktra in the presence of Thai troops who had previously crossed into Cambodian territory.
It comes as Thailand’s military accused Cambodian forces on Wednesday of breaching a ceasefire agreement at three separate locations along the disputed border, warning that continued aggression could compel Thai forces to respond more decisively.
